Somerville Cops Nab Robbery Suspects

The two suspects have a history of arrests.

Somerville police arrested two men who allegedly conducted a robbery early New Year's Day near the corner of Cedar Street and Highland Avenue.

According to a police report, officers responded to the area at around 2:30 a.m. for reports of a fight.

When officers arrived, the two victims said they had just been robbed and the assailants had fled down Alpine Street.

Officers stopped a pair of men who matched the description at the intersection of Lowell and Vernon streets, and the victims identified the men as the robbers, the police report says.

Police arrested Kirby Calixte, 21, of 66 Vernon St., and Sean Manuel, 19, of 32 Cubby St., Medford, and charged them with armed robbery and assault with a dangerous weapon.

Both have histories of arrest. The two were arrested on March 24, 2013, and accused of getting into a fight with a driver after a traffic dispute.

Calixte was previously arrested on Nov. 24, 2013, after allegedly creating a commotion at the La Quinta Inn in Somerville and on July 13, 2013, on charges of disorderly conduct.

Somerville Patch contacted the Somerville Police Department to ask what weapon was allegedly used in the New Year's Day robbery but did not hear back at the time of this posting.

The above information was supplied by the Somerville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
