Somerville – Fifteen members of the Somerville Auxiliary Police participated in the massive public safety effort in support of the Annual Running of the Boston Marathon.  For the tenth year, the Auxiliary Officers were requested by the Hopkinton Police Department to assist with security and safety efforts at and around the starting line.  These volunteer officers worked from 5:30 a.m. until noon in support of the public safety efforts.  In addition to providing security, the officers help to keep the runners on course at the start of the race.
