Sean Collier Memorial Erected Near MIT
The Somerville resident and MIT police officer who was allegedly killed by the Boston Marathon Bombing suspects will be memorialized near MIT.
A memorial to slain MIT police officer Sean Collier was unveiled Friday, according to MyFoxBoston.
Authorities say Collier, a Somerville resident, was shot to death on April 18 by the suspects in the Boston Marathon Bombing.
The Collier Memorial, at the corner of Vassar and Main streets in Cambridge, near MIT, is temporary, composed of flowers and flags, but a permanent memorial will be built soon, MyFoxBoston says.
In August, Collier was posthumously appointed to the Somerville Police Department. When he was killed, at the age of 27, he was weeks away from being sworn in as a Somerville police officer, which had been his dream.
