Saturday's Winter Hill Shooting Under Investigation

Police were following leads but had made no arrests as of Monday morning, according to Paul Upton of the Somerville Police department.

Somerville police are still investigating a Saturday-night shooting in Winter Hill that sent one man to the hospital with non-fatal injuries.

"We're following leads at the moment," said Paul Upton, deputy chief of the Somerville Police Department, speaking Monday morning.

The shooting happened Saturday a little before 9:15 p.m. on Evergreen Avenue, near the corner of Marshall Street—about a block from the Marshall Street Playground.

According to Upton, the victim, a 24-year-old male, was shot while in the street and then fled to a nearby apartment. Scanner reports at the time said police responded to the victim's location at 35 Marshall St.

As of Monday morning the victim was still in the hospital and was able to talk, the deputy chief said.

Police are searching for two subjects seen leaving the area, on foot, after the shots were heard, according to an announcement from Somerville police.

Somerville police and Massachusetts State Police are conducting the investigation, the announcement says.
