Police Report Says Men Were Shooting Heroin in Market Basket Bathroom

Two men were allegedly in the process of doing heroin in a bathroom stall at the grocery store when a police officer walked in on them, a police report says.

 

A police officer caught two men shooting up heroin in the men's room of the on Somerville Avenue, according to a police report.

According to the report, an officer was on paid duty at the grocery store on Saturday afternoon, at about 1:45 p.m., when the store manager told the officer two men had entered a bathroom stall together, and the manager suspected they were using drugs.

The officer went to the men's room and saw two sets of feet in the stall, the report says. When the officer knocked on the door, one of the men answered, "What do you want?" according to the report.

After the officer threatened to kick the door in, the two men opened the stall, and the officer saw one of the men standing on the toilet bowl, with a used needle near the toilet bowl, according to the report.

When the officer asked what they were doing, one of the men said he was vomiting, the report says.

In addition to the needle, the officer saw a small packet of brown powder thought to be heroin, according to the report.

The officer escorted the men out of the bathroom, and according to the report one of the men said, "I just got done shooting heroin … and you walked in on my buddy that was getting ready to do the same."

The two men were arrested and charged with drug possession and conspiracy to violate drug law.
