Police Make Heroin Arrests After Stakeout in Ten Hills, Says Report

Somerville police arrested three people after staking out a home in the Ten Hills neighborhood. The home was under investigation for allegedly being tied to heroin distribution, according to police reports.

The reports do not identify the address of the "target residence," which is in the same neighborhood Somerville's mayor calls home, but they describe the scene on Dec. 7 when undercover officers put the residence under surveillance.

According to one report, undercover investigators were observing the home at about 2:10 p.m., having learned heroin suppliers were supposed to stop by that afternoon.

At about that time, Darlin DeJesus, 23, of Farragut Road, Medford, and Ruddy Gonzales, 27, of Lynn, arrived in the area and parked right in front of one of the undercover police vehicles, the report says.

A third man got into their car, and after driving around a bit, he got out of the car and walked back the home that was under surveillance, according to the report.

Police followed DeJesus and Gonzales, who drove a circuitous route into East Somerville in an attempt, investigators believed, to shake anyone following them, an effort known as "cleaning themselves," the police report says.

Police pulled the car over at 65 Cross St. and found 50 grams of heroin, according to the police report. DeJesus was arrested and charged with heroin trafficking, conspiracy to violate drug law and drug violation near a school.

Gonzalez was arrested and charged with heroin trafficking, conspiracy to violate drug law, drug violation near a school and witness intimidation.

Later that afternoon, investigators continued their surveillance of the Ten Hills home, according to another police report.

At about 4:35 p.m. they observed Angelo Perez, 39, of 80 Highland Ave., arrive at the home and have a brief meeting with the target of the heroin investigation, the report says.

Investigators pulled Perez over at the intersection of Pearl and Medford streets, and they found a baggie of heroin, 15 Clonopin pills and $1,690 in cash, according to the police report.

Perez was arrested and charged with drug possession and drug possession to distribute.
