Police Booking Log: Man Without Infant Shoplifts Baby Formula

The following arrest information was supplied by the Somerville Police Department. It does not indicate a conviction.

Arrests made by the Somerville Police Department from Oct. 15 to Oct. 21. Please remember that the charges listed below do not indicate a conviction.

Assault and battery

On Oct. 15, George Kwesi, 21, was arrested at 20 Canal Lane and charged with assault and battery on a police officer, resisting arrest and violating an abuse prevention order. According to a police report, officer tried to arrest Kwesi for violating a restrining order, but he fled to 35B Memorial Road. When police tried to arrest him at that address, he allegedly shouted racial slurs at officers and struggled. Police used pepper spray on him, and he continued to struggle, elbowing an officer several times, the report says. Once in handcuffs, he allegedly told officers to go "[expletive] themselves" and that he made "more money in a day than [they did] in a week."

On Oct. 15, Kendell Bell, 29, of 43 Thurston St., was arrested at that address and charged with assault and battery.

On Oct. 17, Shawn Bryon, 45, was arrested at 190 Highland Ave. and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and threatening to commit crime. He is accused of kicking a wheelchair-bound nun.

On Oct. 20, Ferro Salvatore, 44, of 20 Kensington Ave., was arrested on Bonair St. and charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon. He is accused of kicking a man off his bike and beating him. Another man allegedly beat the victim with a cane.

On Oct. 21, Peter McCarthy, 33, of Roxbury, was arrested at 79 Curtis St. and charged with assault and battery.

Larceny, theft and shoplifting

On Oct. 16, Alisha Damis-Salaam, 18, of 66 Marshall St., was arested at 180 Somerville Ave. and charged with shoplifting. According to a police report, she tried to shoplift ear buds and jewelry from Target.

On Oct. 18, Timothy Bennett, 28, of Medford, was arrested at 77 Middlesex Ave. and charged with shoplifting. According to a police report, Bennett stole baby formula from Kmart and then led police and loss prevention officers on a foot chase through the Assembly Square mall. Once caught, he told police he was unemployed and had a young baby to feed, the report says. However, his wife, who was there, told officers his kid was 6 years old and didn't use formula.

Warrant arrests

On Oct. 16, Willyan Lacerda, 23, of 11 Flint Ave., was arrested at that address on warrants for reckless operation of a motor vehicle and unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle.

On Oct. 19, Joseph Frejuste, 21, of 8 Flint St., was arrested at that address on a warrant for drug possession.

On Oct. 19, Stanley Orantes, 19, of 198 Pearl St., was arrested on Broadway on a warrant for assault.

On Oct. 19, Charles Gondola, 49, of 88 Gilman St., was arrested on Craigie St. on a warrant for marked lanes violation and operating with a suspended license.
