Police Arrest Suspect in Highland Ave. Gunpoint Robbery Case

Jonathan Williams, 31, of Revere, is accused of holding up the QuickStop Somerville convenience store at the corner of Highland Avenue and Lowell Street. Police say they received several tips from the public.

Police arrested a 31-year-old Revere man in connection to Sunday's brazen armed robbery of QuickStop Somerville convenience store at 219 Highland Avenue.

Jonathan Williams was arrested Wednesday in Woburn without incident, according to an announcement from Somerville police.

According to the announcement, detectives received tips form the public and other sources that led them to Williams. The Somerville Police Department had release surveillance video of Sunday's robbery. The video depicted a man brandishing a pistol as he stole nearly $1,000 from the store's cash register and money box.

The suspect was also thought to have been behind three armed robberies in Medford, according to Somerville police.

Medford police, Woburn police, state police and the FBI Violent Crimes Task Force worked together to apprehend Williams, the announcement says.

Williams was scheduled to arraigned in Somerville District Court Wednesday afternoon.

In a statement, Somerville Police Chief Thomas Pasquarello said, "We are grateful to the news media for broadcasting the surveillance video, and well as the many followers on the police department home page and social media, which led to several tips, identifying Williams as the suspect."
