More Details About Illinois Avenue Shooting

A police report from the Somerville Police Department includes some new details about an that sent a 35-year-old man to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

The police report identifies Gerry Girauld, 26, of 28 Temple St., Somerville, as being arrested in connection to the shooting.

Girauld was not named in . The press release said two people were arrested in connection to the shooting: Fonge Pierre, 32, of Chelsea, and an unnamed suspect who was also arrested in Chelsea.

Pierre was charged with armed assault with intent to murder, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, unlawful possession of a firearm and discharging a firearm within 500 feet of a dwelling, according to the press release.

According to a Somerville police arrest log, Girauld was arrested on the same charges.

In the Somerville police report, Pierre's first name is spelled "Fronge," although the Oct. 5 press release spells his name as "Fonge" and "Forge."

"Lying in a pool of blood"

The shooting took place shortly before 1:30 a.m. on Oct. 1 at 10 Illinois Ave. in East Somerville.

According to the Somerville police report, a woman who reported the shooting to police told officers she heard five gunshots and that she found the victim "lying in a pool of blood" with "multiple gun shot wounds to his lower back and thigh area."

The police report says the victim, from Somerville, was "visibly upset and shaken" and "in excruciating pain." He was not able to provide police with a description of the shooters, and when asked if he knew who was responsible for the shooting, he told police, "'NO, don't let me die man,'" according to the report.
