Massage Parlor Offered 'Happy Endings," Says Police Report

A massage parlor at the corner of Highland Avenue and Lowell Street was offering clients "happy endings" and has been temporarily closed, according to a police report.

A massage parlor at the corner of Highland Avenue and Lowell Street was offering "happy endings," according to a Somerville police report.

Somerville police detectives received a tip about the massage parlor, which is located at 217B Highland Ave., from a detective with the Boston Police Human Trafficking Division, according to the report.

The Boston detective had read online reviews of the massage parlor, known as Comfortable Massage Center, according to an Internet search, in which clients talked about paying for and receiving "happy endings," the police report says.

Those who have walked or driven past the massage parlor in recent months would have noticed the windows covered with paper, making it nearly impossible to see inside.

According to the police report, a Somerville detective made an appointment at the massage parlor, agreeing to pay $40 for a half-hour massage.

On Oct. 11, the detective went to the parlor, paid $40, and began to receive his massage, according to the report.

During the massage, the masseuse, a 48-year-old woman from California, quoted the detective a price of $40 for a "happy ending," the police report says.

The detective asked the masseuse about intercourse, and the woman told him not this time, but maybe next time, the report says.

The detective paid the woman $40 for a "happy ending" and then called in the arrest team, according to the report. The woman was arrested and charged with sexual conduct for a fee.

The police report says officers conducted a search of the address and found a 55-year-old man sleeping in the basement.

Police called the Somerville Inspectional Services Division, which told the business to close until its owners appear before the Licensing Board to discuss the business, according to the police report.
