Man Arrested for Allegedly Shaking His Genitals at Neighbor

A woman allegedly got a lewd response from her neighbor when she asked him to stop making noise at 2 a.m.

Somerville police arrested a Beacon Street resident on April 15 after he allegedly exposed himself to a neighbor.

According to a police report, he grabbed his genitals and waved them around "in a circular motion" after his neighbor asked him to stop making noise in the middle of the night.

Police responded to the Beacon Street address, not far from Porter Square, at about 2 a.m., according to the report.

The victim told police she and her husband couldn't get to sleep due to noise coming from the second floor. The woman climbed the stairs to the second floor and knocked on the door, but no one answered, the report says.

On her way back down the stairs, she heard the apartment door open, and the man inside, 28-year-old James Jackson, said, "Hey, come here, I want to apologize," according to the report.

The woman kept her distance, saying, "You can do it from here," the report says.

At this point, Jackson, who was wearing a white shirt and a tie, allegedly made some "profane remarks" and then lifted up his shirt, unbuckled and unzipped his pants, took his genitals out from his boxers, grabbed them and waved them around in a circular motion, according to the report.

Police were called, and when they arrived they attempted to speak with Jackson, the report says.

He behaved oddly, at one point lying on his stomach, placing his hands behind his back and saying, "Go ahead, take me."

Eventually, police arrested Jackson and charged him with open and gross lewdness.
