Internet Ad Leads to Prostitution Arrest

The 23-year-old charged with prostitution outlined "rules of engagement" for the sexual encounter, according to a police report.

Police charged a 23-year-old woman with prostitution after an online classified ad led investigators to the La Quinta Inn & Suites in Assembly Square, according to a report from the Somerville Police Department.

The report says investigators with the department's drug and vice control unit found the ad on backpage.com, saying it was offering sexual services at an unknown location in Somerville.

Backpage.com has free classified announcements for events, items for sale and services. It also has an "adult" section.

According to the police report, an investigator responded to the ad via cell phone and arranged to meet Sonnetta Gibbs, from Oak Grove, Calif., at the La Quinta Inn on Nov. 6. Gibbs allegedly quoted the investigator $60 for 20 minutes, $80 for 30 minutes and $130 for one hour of sexual services.

At the hotel, Gibbs outlined her "rules of engagement while conducing special sexual acts," the report says. Among the alleged rules: no touching her hair and no kissing. (The other rules were a little too "adult" for Somerville Patch to mention.)

After going over the rules of engagement, Gibbs disrobed and put a Magnum Trojan condom on the night stand, the report says.

At that point, it says, an arrest team moved in and placed Gibbs under arrest.

She was charged with providing sexual conduct for a fee, the report says.

The above information was supplied by the Somerville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
