The Somerville Fire Department is investigating the cause of a Thursday morning fire at 35 Everett Avenue in East Somerville that caused about $15,000 worth of damage, according to an announcement from the fire department.
Another fire, which occurred Wednesday night at 64 Beacon St. near Inman Square, temporarily displaced two people and caused about $5,000 worth of damage, the announcement says.
The Thursday morning fire struck the first floor of a two-family home sometime before 9:42 a.m., when firefighters arrived, the announcement says. Firefighters were able to confine the fire to the crawl space between the basement and the first floor, and all occupants were able to get out of the building without injury, according to the announcement.
On Wednesday night, at around 7:19 p.m., firefighters responded to the Beacon Street home and found a fire in the ceiling of the third-floor living room, around a lighting fixture, the announcement says. The two occupants of the apartment have been temporarily displaced until repairs can be made, according to the announcement.
