He also smashed into a car and ran over some bushes, a police report says.

A drunk driver smashed his Jeep into a cinder-block garage in West Somerville Friday night, destroying the building and the vehicle, according to a Somerville police report.

The Jeep also plowed into a parked SUV, ran over bushes and clipped a house on its way into the garage, the report says.

Police arrested Jason White, 30, of 94 Conwell Ave. in connection to the incident and charged him with operating under the influence of liquor, reckless operation of a motor vehicle and leaving the scene of property damage.

According to witness accounts in the report, White, driving a 2003 Jeep Grand Cherokee, had driven home with a female friend and pulled into his driveway on Conwell Ave.

The report says that after his friend got out of the car, White suddenly put the Jeep in reverse and sped out of the driveway. Witnesses heard a loud crash, and, based on details in the report, smashed into a Toyota Highlander parked across the street.

Witnesses then saw the Jeep accelerate back into the driveway, where it drove through the cinder-block wall of the garage and into a chain-link fence, the report says.

The garage sustained "major structural damage," and the Jeep sustained "heavy damage all around," according to the report.

When a police officer arrived, he saw White getting out of the Jeep with the keys in his hand, the report says. It adds White smelled of alcohol, had glassy eyes, slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet.
