Argument Leads to Stabbing in Pearl Street Apartment

A witness was "shocked to see the amount of blood emanating from the victim's wounds," according to a police report.

Somerville police arrested 30-year-old Cynthia Perez, of 219 Pearl St., after she allegedly stabbed another woman in the arm during a fight Saturday night.

The victim told police that she and her girlfriend arrived at Perez's apartment at about 8 p.m. for dinner, according to a police report.

Soon, the victim and Perez got into an argument, Perez sucker-punched the victim, and the victim jumped on Perez, punching her several times in the head and torso, according to the victim's account.

Perez asked the victim to leave, but the victim forgot her purse and jacket, and when she went to get them, the fight started again, the report says.

During the fight, Perez went into the kitchen, grabbed a kitchen knife, came back and stabbed the victim in the left arm, "causing blood to splatter inside the defendant's apartment, on the victim's clothes, the stairs, landings and on the threshold area leading into the ... apartment," the police report says, citing the victim's account and that of a witness.

The witness told police she was "shocked to see the amount of blood emanating from the victim's wounds."

The witness wrestled the knife away from Perez and used paper towels to stanch the bleeding, the report says. She and another friend took the victim, who was "wincing in pain," to the hospital, where the victim was treated for non-life threatening injuries, according to the report.

Police arrested Perez and charged her with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and assault to murder.

The above information was supplied by the Somerville Police Department. Where arrests or charges are mentioned, it does not indicate a conviction.
