Arlington police arrested two Somerville men early Saturday morning for allegedly riding stolen bicycles in East Arlington.

Francisco R. Aponte, 21, and Roberto Ruiz, 18, both of Alewife Brook Parkway, were charged with larceny over $250.

An Arlington officer allegedly spotted them riding near Massachusetts Avenue and Orvis Road at about 2:25 a.m. Saturday. After following them, the officer witnessed them ditch their bikes and take off on foot, according to police.

The two were soon apprehended on Egerton Road.

Ruiz allegedly told police they had stolen the bikes from a house near Spy Pond.
