COME Participate in Self-Care Community Style!
Somerville, MA (April 23, 2014) Pampi and Lore of alpoarrentao Productions (a program of PALESCA.org) present their fourth annual production for Somerville Open Studios, “Hug Thyself: A Call to Self-Care" a six-hour interactive visual and performance installation featuring original visual art, dance, movement, song and poetry.
This installation aspires to dig deep into the often conflicting messaging internalized when protecting and caring for ourselves. It will start to deconstruct feelings of guilt, love, altruism, and destruction that unsettle us each time we consider care of self. Participating artists are creating pieces that interpret how we might achieve a more gentle resolution - how our individual best practices towards self-care might look like – and how self-care may indeed be an act towards sustainable healthy life choices and preventative care.
“This was a beautiful event!! I loved coming to your home – making the art into the everyday and the everyday into the art. Thank you for hosting! Divinely inspiring! Love this. Thank you for hosting and loving the earth.”
- Leah, 2012 Divine Feminine installation
