RATS in the Ville!

For years now, Mayor Curtatone has been making promises about finally cleaning up the big rodent control problem in our city. Yet there has still been little change.

Last year both the Mayor and our Alderman supposedly worked to implement a new rodent control program. A big part of this new program was to provide uniform residential garbage containers (with lids) and replace our antiquated garbage collection methods. I for one believe that a major cause for the rodent problem in our city has been uncovered garbage containers, both commercial and residential.

Last year the Mayor made promises to deliver uniform covered garbage containers to all residences by this Spring. Here we are in Spring, but nothing has been done. Now there's talk about food waste collection and yard waste composting, but the basic problem of our outdated household waste collection system continues to go unaddressed.

Yes, the streets are being swept and the annual spring clean-up is upcoming, but for what...so the rats can have clean streets to wander upon?

Where are the uniform (covered) residential containers we were promised? Why hasn't the Mayor kept us informed on how he's doing with fulfilling this promise, and why is there no coverage at all about this in the news?

Cambridge and the towns surrounding us have come into the 21st century with their garbage collection methods, but the Ville is far behind them. Mayor Curtatone should show everyone just how PROGRESSIVE he really is as our leader and follow through on his promises.
