Obituary: Rita M. Ventura, Avon Lady

Ventura died Saturday, March 22.

Rita M. Ventura, 85, passed away on Saturday, March 22, 2014.

She was born in Cambridge on Nov. 3, 1928, to her parents William P. and Margaret T. (Welch) Woods. Rita was raised and educated in Somerville and is a graduate of St. Joseph’s School. She has been a resident of Malden since 1963. Rita has worked as an Avon Lady since 1965. First and foremost, she was a homemaker who enjoyed the company of her family.

She is survived by her children, Donna Morabito of Malden, Jo-Ann Chesley of Methuen, Laura Yurek and her husband James of Melrose and Paula Ventura of Medford; by her grandchildren, Michelle, Nicole, Melissa, Michael, Mark, Meagan, Paige and Faith; by her great grandchildren, Alec, Dylan, Colin, Sophia and Jayda; and by her sister, Loretta Quinn of Winchester. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Along with her parents, Rita was predeceased by her husband Albert Ventura, by her son-in-law Fred Morabito and by her siblings, Margaret “Sis” Bishop and Joseph, Michael and John Woods.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend her funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, on Wednesday, March 26, at 8 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 9 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery in Everett. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, March 25, from 4-8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations in her memory may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701.
