Obituary: Richard Healy

Healy died Friday, March 7.

Richard J. Healy, of Medford, passed away on Friday, March 7, 2014.

He was born in Medford on March 7, 1932, to his parents Anna (Doyle) and Patrick J. Healy. Richard is a graduate of Immaculate Conception Grammar School and Malden High School. He served his country honorably as an Army Medic during the Korean Conflict.

Richard worked as a baggage handler at Peter Pan Bus Lines as well as the Trailway Bus Company. He retired after more than 40 years of service. He is a proud member of American Legion Post 69 in Malden.

He is survived by his sister, Ann Healy of Medford, as well as several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews. Along with his parents, Richard was predeceased by his sister, Mary F. Whelan, and his twin brother, John Healy.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend his funeral from the Breslin Funeral Home, 610 Pleasant St., Malden, on Tuesday, March 11, at 8 a.m. followed by a mass of Christian burial celebrated at Immaculate Conception Church, 600 Pleasant St., Malden, at 9 a.m. Services will conclude with interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Malden. Visiting hours will be held at the funeral home on Monday, March 10, from 4-8 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Recreation Fund at the Chelsea Soldiers Home, 91 Crest Ave., Chelsea, MA 02150.
