The end of "Well where do you want to go?"
We're approaching the weekend, so it's officially time for the Thirsty Thursday Text-a-Thon. For those unfamiliar with the TTTT, it's known as the frantic exchange to make pre-weekend plans with your partner of choice - could be your bestie, your bf, or just that work aquaintance with similar drinking abilities. It goes a little something like this:
You: "Thursday. Let's. Go. Out."
Them: "Totes. Where?"
You: "I don't know. Somewhere with drinks and food?"
Them: "Def. Where do you want to go?"
You: "I don't know, where do you want to go?"
And so it goes until you've run up a 20 exchange convo. Luckily, there's no shortage of "wheres" to go in Somerville, so here are 3 go-to spots for that perfect, not-too-debaucherous, Thursday night outing:
- For the Classy: Foundry on Elm (255 Elm St, Davis). Just a couple years old, but this brasserie puts the capital "S" in Davis Square's newly Sophisticated vibe. You won't be throwing back shots on the cushy, crimson bar stools, but it's a relaxed place to enjoy both an above-average meal and cocktail. Entrees range from $12-$25 and include a brown sugar and Jarlsberg filled Croque Monsieur sandwich.
- For the Bold: Bronwyn (255 Washington St., Union). A new addition to Union Square, this rustic watering hole touts itself as offering "the food and drink of Germany & Central Europe." Like most other venues in this hipster haven, Bronwyn draws a young, cool crowd and keeps their discerning palettes satisfied with savory dishes like the Giant Wurst Platter (6 sausages and sides for $26) and a killer beer list.
- For the Townie in all of us: Casey's (173 Broadway, Sullivan-ish). Sometimes you just want to throw back some Bud-Lights and cheesy fries without having to straighten your hair or take off your hoodie. This cheap, East Somerville pub has enough TVs, $8 beer pitchers and friendly regulars to make for a solid Thursday night.
