Somerville to Celebrate 237th Patriots Day with Colonial Games, Refreshments

SOMERVILLE – Mayor Joseph A. Curtatone, Ward 1 Alderman Bill Roche, and the Somerville Historic Preservation Commission invite all residents and community members to the City’s 237th annual Patriot’s Day celebration, to be held at on Monday, April 16th from 10:00-11:30 a.m. Co-sponsored by the Preservation Commission, Historic Somerville, the , and , the day’s events will include Colonial games and songs, light refreshments, youth readings, and a visit from Paul Revere on horseback on his historic ride from Boston to Lexington through Somerville.

The event will begin at 10 a.m. with live music by the band, games and refreshments, followed by a brief speaking agenda with youth poetry readings and the arrival of Paul Revere.  Children will receive a “Colonial Times Passport” and are invited to participate in various Colonial-era games.  Children who complete each of the six stations will receive a small prize. Attendees are also encouraged to dress in traditional Colonial attire.
