Who Are You Wearing? An Outdoor Exhibition of Street Fashion Paintings

On Saturday, October 12, come Union Square for an outdoor

art exhibition.  Somerville Arts Council

Grant recipient, Danielle Festa, will be displaying original mixed media oil

paintings that capture an array of street fashion. Her newest works will

include subjects from her red carpet photo shoot that took place in Union

Square back in May.

Festa usually takes photo references for her paintings from

unsuspecting passers by. This time she took a different approach, setting the

scene for a photoshoot  in which anyone

could participate. Her paintings focus on the influence of attire, so she was

looking for a true sampling of the variety Union Square fashion has to offer.

The contradiction of everyday people posing on what is

normally reserved for the fashion elite is part of what draws Festa to the red

carpet scenario. You can expect the elements of the red carpet along with

fabrics relating back to the fashion of her subject to be integrated into her

oil paintings.

Somerville Arts Council, a local agency supported by the Massachusetts Cultural

Council.
