The Ides of March in Union Square: The Death of Caesar at the Roman Forum

Friends, Somervillian’s, Countryman... LEND US YOUR EARS!
To mark the 2,058th anniversary of the Ides of March and the assassination of Julius Caesar Large and Elaborate Productions along with the Somerville Arts Council will turn Union Square, Somerville into a Roman forum for the afternoon. It will be a fully festive, light-hearted, interactive and fun interpretation of the historical event and Shakespeare’s interpretation of it, as well as the assassination’s enduring role in pop-cultural memory.
The event will include fun booths that everyone can participate in including a Roman tailor “shop” where a toga-master will teach you how to tie a toga; a letter-writing station where Cassius encourages you to write letters to Brutus expressing support for the conspiracy; a tarot card reader; a Dogs of War costume contest for canines; a “pin-the-tail-on-the-donkey” where you can practice stabbing Caesar in the back; and a Giant Lend Me Your Ears-Making craft... and much, much, much more! Keep your eyes and ears open to more details about this event coming soon!
