Songs for Change, Songs for Peace with Eden MacAdam-Somer, Nedelka Prescod, Eric Lane & other guests

Join us for a special edition of Crossing Musical Borders which will center around music calling for peace and social change. The concert will feature fiddler/composer/ vocalist/improviser and NEC faculty member Eden MacAdam-Somer along with the multi-faceted vocalist/composer/ wordologist and NEC educator Nedelka Prescod along with some other guests.

Eden's set will explore folk songs and traditional fiddling and dance with roots in many cultures. She will also talk about her experiences teaching in Afghanistan, where she has made annual visits for the past four years.

Nedelka's music will draw on many traditions with seeds in the African diaspora, and the African-American experience through various paths and times.

Also on the bill will be NEC alum, multi-instrumentalist Eric Lane who will perform some solo music drawing on many genres, styles, and cultures: Ornette Coleman meets Afro-Cuban clave meets synth. Eric will also be sharing some of the music he taught to students when he visited Afghanistan in 2013.

The event will conclude with a community sing-in, led by Eden and Nedelka. All voices are very welcome!

Proceeds from the concert will be donated to Afghan band White Page to assist in their recording project and first international tour to be called Stop the War

suggested donation will be on a sliding scale of $10 - $15
