Somerville residents to star in, direct, and costume OUR TOWN

MOONSTRUCK THEATER COMPANY, in association with Amazing Things Art Center of Framingham, is pleased to present the classic American play OUR TOWN, opening Friday, March 14, and running for seven performances through Sunday, March 23.

This Pulitzer Prize-winning play is Thornton Wilder’s most frequently performed work. Set in the early 20th century in the fictional town of Grover’s Corners, New Hampshire, the play explores the beauty of love, marriage, family and the everyday precious moments that may be taken for granted. Our Town, known for its minimalistic use of set and props, has the Stage Manager narrate the love story of George Gibbs and Emily Webb. As the couple moves through life we are reminded of how important it is to stop and take time to appreciate the significance in the simplest of moments.

The production features 14 performers from the Boston and MetroWest regions, including Kristie Norris of Somerville. Two more Somerville residents are involved in the production--Matthew Sherman as Director, and Caroline Fonseca as Producer.

Our Town is produced by Caroline Fonseca and directed by Matthew Sherman, both of whom are Somerville residents. Fonseca has been performing all her life and founded Moonstruck Theater Company eight years ago. Caroline works as the Coordinator for the Department of Visual & Critical Studies at Tufts University. Sherman has been with Moonstruck for four years, both as a performer and a director. Matthew works as a Branch Manager for Citizens Bank.

Our Town also features Somerville resident Kristie Norris as Mrs. Louella Soames, a gossipy townswoman with a penchant for nuptials. “I remember Our Town from high school and loved that since the play was simplistic visually, it challenged the audience to use their imaginations,” says Norris. “The thing that's unique about this production is that we're not afraid to be funny.” Norris has been involved in theater since high school: “My favorite past role was Witch/Lady Macduff/Porter/Murderer in Macbeth and the most memorable was Mariana/Francisca in Measure for Measure - I guess I'm a bit biased towards Shakespeare.” Kristie works as a Marketing Manager at an architecture firm in downtown Boston.
