Old School Game Show's 2014 Comeback Special

Interactive, live theater experience "Old School Game Show" returns to the Davis Square Theater in Somerville for its monthly residency on Sunday, January 26th.  Channeling 1970s games shows and variety specials, "Old School Game Show" draws contestants from the audience to participate in pop-culture based trivia challenges with the opportunity to win prizes from local sponsors.  A live band comprised of local musicians and a house dance troupe keep the audience grooving through rounds.

Old School Game Show is the shag-carpeted brainchild of Somerville resident Mike D'Angelo.  Graphic designer by day, alt. trivia/variety host by night, Mike guides contestants through trivia rounds as his mustachioed, Richard Dawson influenced alter ego, Mike D.  Some trivia challenges will be familiar to the audience, such as a name-that-tune-esque segment that charges contestants to identity a popular song by its guitar riff, while others may be new.  Crowd favorite "Robot Thespian" asks contestants to identify famous movie monologues as performed by an Old School Game Show cast member outfitted as a robot, complete with computerized voice.

Upon arrival, audience members are outfitted with a nametag and have their name placed in the Old School Game Show fishbowl.  Wallflowers are welcome to opt out of contestant registration and simply enjoy the show, and there is plenty of show to enjoy.  Trivia rounds are interspersed with comedic sketches, musical numbers, and special guests.  Amherst based hip-hop/electronica duo Solo Sexx joins the Old School Game Show Players for their January show.

Old School Game Show incorporates new trivia challenges, characters, and guest performers every month.  Like Old School Game Show on facebook or check oldschoolgameshow.com to learn about upcoming shows.
