Modern Impression: The Ron Savage Trio
In
addition to serving as the Chair of the Ensemble Department at Berklee College
of Music, Ron Savage has worked with Jazz Legends such as Mulgrew Miller, Gary
Bartz, Johnny Griffin, Joe Zawinul, Albert King, Art Farmer, Nnenna Freelon,
James Williams, Bill Pierce, James Moody and many others. The Ron Savage Trio’s
performance seamlessly combines different music styles into a fresh new sound
with elements of BeBop, Swing, Gospel, African, R&B and Brazilian music.
The concert is complemented by a jazz talk titled: “An Informal History
of the Jazz Rhythm Section: Piano, Bass and Drums” by the former WGBH
radio host and the Boston Jazz Scene expert Steve Schwartz, starting in the
Upper Gallery at 7pm. Arrive 6:30 – 7:00, visit our two galleries, have a
complimentary appetizer and a drink from the cash bar (wine, beer and sparkling
water options)
Tickets: $20/$15 for students (with ID), seniors (+65)
