Saloon in Somerville’s Davis Square will host their second annual four-course Mezcal Tasting Dinner on January 14th, 2014 at 6:30PM. Beverage Director, Manny Gonzales and Executive Chef Jonathan Schick have worked together to hand pick superior Mezcals, paired with Mexican-inspired dishes for the enjoyment of curious diners.
Guests will ring in the New Year with a wealth of new knowledge at Saloon’s four-course Mezcal Tasting dinner. The evening will include a tasting of four unique Mezcals served alongside four Oaxacan small plate pairings. Throughout the dinner, Gonzales will be educating guests on the subtleties and history of tequila’s elegant great, great grandfather— served neat.

First Course: Frisée with a light tarragon and citric dressing
Fidencio "Sin Humo,” a bright and earthy mezcal with soft citric notes

Second Course: Arroz con Langosta with corn, vanilla and chili
Piedras Almas" Espadin,” a medium body mezcal with subtle vanilla and berry aromas
Third Course: Steamed Carnitas Empanadas
Fidencio "Tobala," a deep and earthy mezcal with a starchy, viscous finish
Fourth Course: Great Hill Blue Cheese with Bruleed Fig on Brioche
Piedras Almas "Pechuga," a delicate yet powerful mezcal with notes of coriander, hazelnuts and cherries
