"Managing Soil Health in the Urban Residential Landscape"

The March meeting of the Somerville Garden Club features a presentation by Mass. Certified Arborist and Horticulturist, Chuck Sherzi. He will introduce the concept of soil health quality/quality to help the backyard gardener access and address the soil constraints typically found in the urban garden and landscape. Sherzi is also accredited by the Northeast Organic Farming Association, and has been an instructor of professional practices at the Landscape Institute, Arnold Arboretum of Harvard University, developing and teaching the soils curriculum, as well as a series of landscape cultural practices workshops.
All Somerville Garden Club meetings are free and the public is invited to attend. Each meeting consists of club announcements, a horticultural question and answer session, a lecture and/or demonstration, and concludes with a raffle of donated plants and garden items. Parking is available on site, and the building is a short walk from the Davis Square T station. Meetings are on the second floor, wheelchair accessible.
