Journeys in Sound Presents Eszter Balint with a very special opening set by Ruby Rose Fox

Journeys in Sound
Presents
debuts a new occasional Friday night series featuring unique
songwriters and performers. SInger/songwriter/violinist
and actress Eszter Balint, making a rare area appearance, will open
the series performing with her long time guitarist Chris Cochrane.
Eszter is probably most known to many for her role as Eva in Jim
Jarmusch's classic debut full length film "Stranger Than Paradise". In
addition to a film career which has also landed her roles in Woody
Allen's "Shadows and Fog" and Steve
Bushemi's "Trees Lounge", Eszter has also carried on a steady career in
music releasing two critically lauded albums, "Flicker" and "Mud", both
produced by JD Foster as well as participating in the music projects of
artists like John Lurie, Marc Ribot, Michael Gira, and Dayna Kurtz. Says
Jon Pareles of the New York Times ... "Her songs are full of
characters on the run ... Ms. Balint has her own film-noir sensibility
as a songwriter. She puts arty twists into back-alley Americana. ... But
the cleverness is not the point. (She) slips inside her characters to
project their restlessness and longing ..."
Eszter is working on her third album and will preview some songs from it.

The artfully creative songwriter/vocalist/actress
Ruby Rose Fox, whose genre bending lounge-pop has created a lot of
attention of late, will do an opening solo set. In 2012, Ruby’s original
song “Dewey Square: No room for Wishing” was featured in the one-man
documentary play of the same name. Ruby's career is definitely on the
rise.
