Pre-registration is required for this workshop! (Some drums are available to rent for an additional $5 for the evening.)

Come see if drumming is for you! Have you thought about drumming? Would you like a chance, without the commitment of a series of classes, to see what it is like to play in community with others? This one night workshop is your opportunity to try out drumming and experience the spirit, power and joy of drumming. Just send an email to drumzatlibana@gmail.com ~ There is a place for YOU in the circle.

"Marytha is OUTSTANDING!  Inspirational, creative, supportive and an amazing teacher.  She can teach a wide variety of abilities from the absolute beginner to someone with musical experience." Michelle T. (Music Together instructor and drum student )

In this introductory workshop we will focus on technique,
the language of the drum, African rhythms, playing in
community and fun!! The class is geared toward beginners, people who have no drum or musical experience but would like to literally try their hand at it. Please bring an African style drum, (djembe, ashiko, or conga) and a rhythm-ready heart.

“Go drum with Marytha if you can. She's the best!”              --Nancy Holland ( professional musician, conductor and singer)

Marytha Paffrath is a seasoned teacher who places an emphasis on fun and whimsy, entwined with solid information, musicality, patience and delight in each student's progress. She has worked privately and in group settings with young children, teenagers and adults as well as professional musicians looking to fine tune their drumming skills. A specialty of hers is adults who have always wanted to pursue a musical endeavor but never had the opportunity. Drumming provides a perfect musical landscape for the shy or unsure musician in hiding.
