Hendrix at 70

What Jimi Hendrix accomplished in the span of four short years before his death in 1970 at age 27 is nothing short of phenomenal. Now, more than four decades later, Hendrix is widely considered the greatest electric guitarist of all-time.

His audio and video recordings sound as fresh and vibrant as ever and continue to sell at a brisk pace to new generations of fans. Join us for a lively panel discussion of Hendrix’s legacy as we look at this musical icon’s diverse—and, at times, surprising—influences, and the tremendous impact he has had on a wide swath of music and musicians that followed him. Discover wonderful, captivating songs from his “non-hit” repertoire with a focus on his gentler side and more lyrical tunes—the hidden Hendrix beyond “Purple Haze” and “Hey Joe,” and the contemplative, humble man behind the flamboyant stage persona.

Scheduled Panelists: Steve Morse, journalist and long-time Boston Globe music editor; Joel J. Brattin, Hendrix scholar and Professor of Humanities at Worcester Polytechnic Institute; and Carter Alan, author and WZLX Assistant Program Director, midday announcer and host of Sunday Morning Blues. Moderated by Leland Stein, Regent Theatre co-owner and lifelong Hendrix enthusiast.
