Groundbreaking and Time Capsule Opening at Saint Polycarp!

In 1950, a group of 2nd and 3rd graders at Saint Polycarp school in Somerville inserted items into a time capsule, to be entombed in the cornerstone of the building for years to come. Now, 63 years later, we have a chance to peak into the past and celebrate the future of this site!

Join SCC, Mayor Curtatone, former students of the Saint Polycarp school, and other neighbors and project partners for an exciting event at Saint Polycarp Village. This official
groundbreaking marks the building of 31 new units of affordable housing in a state of the art facility for future Somerville families.

And....drum roll....we will open the time capsule and take a peak at Somerville through the eyes of young students in 1950!

This is a rare moment to stand at a point in time (2pm on February 25th) and get a glimpse of both time past and time forward. We'll hear stories from the former students as well as imagine the future homes for 31 Somerville families. We hope you'll join us!
