Day of the Dead, Altar Making Workshop

In preparation for the Day of the Dead (Dia de Muertos,) a celebration to remember family member and ancestors who have passed on, we will be making small altars to honor our loved ones.

Come join us for this short, free, drop-in workshop; all materials will be provided and no skills necessary. This workshop is for all ages, children and adults, anyone who wants to create.  You can bring small photos or memorabilia to the workshop work in to your design, or add them once you get home.

Finished altars are encouraged to be displayed at La Cantina Mexicans in Union Sq. on November 2 - 6, in a group exhibit, (and then yours to keep.)

Suzanne Lubeck, a local Vernon St., mixed-media artist, and Somerville Arts Council LCC grant winner, will provide materials, instruction an encourage your delightful creations.  Come! Give it a try and enjoy the East End Grille, a great community restaurant.

This workshop is made possible by the Somerville Arts Council and the Massachusetts Cultural Council.
