Arlington Alive Summer Arts Block Party

Arlington will come alive with the second annual Summer Arts Block Party on Saturday, July 12th, 2014, for a free all-day event that celebrates the arts in the community with live music, artisan and craft booths, food vendors and activities for children.

Visitors can hear an eclectic mix of live musical performances on three different stages throughout the day, including bluegrass and western swing with the Bagboys, kid-approved upbeat acoustic tunes with Ben Rudnick & Friends, honky tonk & rockabilly with the Roy Sludge Trio, and old time rock and roll with the Band That Time Forgot.

In addition to the live performances, the Summer Arts Block Party will also feature and Arts Promenade, lining the closed-to-cars street with artisan and craft booths for unique visual artists to display their wares. Close by will be the Food Pavilion, serving up a wide array of food from Arlington-based restaurants for purchase. To top it all off, the Family Arts Area will boast interactive games, crafts, and activities suitable for the whole family.

In the late afternoon the Block Party moves to The Regent Theatre for an all family program. Hitting the stage will be a magic show, scenes and songs from the Arlington Children's Theatre, dance performances from Imitations Dance & Calamity Company, and a selection of family friendly short films from the Arlington International Film Festival.

The Summer Arts Block Party takes place in Arlington Center on Saturday, July 12th, 2014, from 12-5 PM at Broadway Plaza, and 5:30-8:30 PM at the Regent Theatre at 7 Medford St.

All events are free. Free off street parking in the Russell Commons Lot. Accessible by the MBTA.

Rain date for the outdoor portion of the Summer Arts Block Party is Sunday, July 13th.
