America's Romance with the English Garden

The February meeting of the Somerville Garden Club is the setting for a talk by Thomas J. Mickey, author of "America's Romance with the English Garden." Mickey is a graduate of the Landscape Institute at the Boston Architectural College, a certified Master Gardener, and the garden colonist for Quincy's Patriot Ledger. He will discuss the American gardeners reverence for English garden design, particularly as promoted by the advertisements, magazines, and seed catalogues of the late 19th century.

All monthly Somerville Garden Club meetings are free, and the public is encouraged to attend. Each meeting includes club announcements, a horticultural question and answer session, a featured lecture or demonstration, and a raffle of donated plants and horticultural-related items. Parking is available on site, and the building is a short walk from the Davis Square T station. Meetings are on the second floor, wheelchair accessible. for additional information, please visit www.somervillegardenclub.org
