24-Hour ChoreoFest 2013

Arrive, create, perform.  Could you create new choreography from scratch to the stage in just twenty-four hours?  Join us for the 24-Hour ChoreoFest's culminating concerts on August 17 to see if six local dance companies stood up to the challenge!

Luminarium Dance Company is proud to announce the second annual 24-Hour ChoreoFest, the Boston area’s only twenty-four hour choreography festival. On August 16, six local dance companies will convene at the Dance Complex to pick themes from a hat and create brand new choreography overnight. The overnight creation period will be broadcast live on the internet, so that anyone can watch the creative process from start to finish in their own home. The participants’ six new pieces will debut in a concert on Saturday, August 17 so that curious audiences can see just was accomplished in one night. The 2013 participating companies and choreographers are Monkeyhouse, Ryan P. Casey, Paradise Lost, Intimations Dance, Impact Dance Company, and Luminarium Dance.

The 24-Hour ChoreoFest strives to build community in two ways; by housing several artists amidst creative process to strengthen the dance community, and also to uniquely engage the Boston area and audiences that enable the survival of the performing arts. All profits from the festival will be donated to fund performing arts programming at a local arts-based youth organization. In 2012 the 24-Hour ChoreoFest concerts’ profits were donated to the Young at Arts Program, part of the South Boston Community Health Center.

Tickets to Luminarium’s 24 Hour ChoreoFest can be purchased at www.LuminariumDance.org/e-store, or at the door. Tickets may be reserved by emailing tickets@luminariumdance.org or by calling 617-477-4494. Reserved tickets will be released to the public if not picked up 15 minutes before each show starts.
