Weekend Red Line Closure Ends Early, Full Service This Weekend

You can ride the Red Line into Boston this weekend.

Weekend bus diversions on the Red Line from Harvard to Alewife stations have ended a week early, according to the MBTA.

The MBTA had planned four straight weekends of bus diversions so crews could continue working on a multi-year, $35 million repair project in the tunnel. The most recent bus diversion began Nov. 17 and was scheduled to take place through the weekend of Dec. 8 and 9.

However, resources and personnel are needed for repairing track bed around the Orange Line's Green Street Station, according to an email from Joe Pesaturo, a spokesperson for the MBTA. As a result, those work crews are getting pulled off the Red Line project a week early.

They will continue the Red Line work sometime in the spring of 2013, according to the MBTA.
