Winter Hill shooting
A 24-year-old man was shot in the chest on Evergreen Avenue on Dec. 1. The shooting left bullet holes in a nearby car and house, and the incident led some in the neighborhood to form a new neighborhood group. Police said the shooting was related to marijuiana, and police arrested two people in connection to the shooting Friday morning.

Announcement on IKEA site coming soon
Somerville Mayor Jopeph Curtatone said IKEA, which owns land in Assembly Square and which decided this summer not to build a store at the site, would make an announcement soon about the sale of its property.

Former Winter Hill Gang boss arraigned
Howard "Howie" Winter was arraigned in Middlesex Superior Court Tuesday on charges of extortion. He is accused of trying to shake down two businessmen for tens of thousands of dollars. The judge in the case impounded the prosecution's statment of facts and allegations, at least temporarily, after lawyers for Winter and his codefendant argued it was one-sided.
