Police seek knife-wielding assailant
Somerville Police were looking for a man who allegedly accosted a woman in East Somerville on Oct. 20 by chasing her with a knife and yelling obscenities at her.
Johnnie's Foodmaster to become a Whole Foods
The Johnnie's Foodmaster on Beacon Street will become a Whole Foods supermarket, according to announcements sent by the markets Friday. The Foodmaster will likely close sometime before the end of November. Whole Foods will renovate the building with the hope of reopening it in late summer or early fall of 2013.
The Center for Arts at the Armory will be able to stay open longer, increase its occupancy, operate a kitchen, create outdoor cafe seating and apply for a liquor license, according to an Oct. 17 decision by the Zoning Board of Appeals.
Food Truck ordinance approved
The Somerville Board of Aldermen, after eight months of debate, approved an ordinance governing food trucks in the city. Time will tell whether the ordinance attracts food trucks to the city or not.
Non-union city workers get a raise
The Somerville Board of Aldermen also voted to give pay raises to non-union city workers. About 150 possessions with the city will be affected. The Board did not take a vote on pay raises for elected officials. Instead, members will continue to debate the matter in committee.
