Anti-New Year's Party at Olde Magoun's Saloon
If you want to avoid the cover charges and DJs, Olde Magoun's Saloon is hosting an anti-New Year's Eve party, according to an announcement from the restaurant.

Jimmy Tingle at The Armory
Comedian Jimmy Tingle will perform at The Center for Arts at the Armory on Saturday and Monday, New Year's Eve. Performances start at 8 p.m.

Joshua Tree reopening party
If you want a traditional New Years Eve bar party, Joshua Tree is celebrating the beginning of 2013; it's also celebrating a new renovation.

Slutcracker closing night
The raunchy burlesque version of Tchaikovsky's ballet ends its 2013 season on Dec. 31.

The Davis Square bar will have a DJ, dancing and a champagne toast.

Backbar, a craft cocktail hideout in Union Square, is hosting a "pre-game party" early in the evening and a "Ring in the New Year" party for the main event. You'll need a ticket.
