Mount Auburn Hospital Announces New Chief of Hematology/Oncology

Mount Auburn Hospital is pleased to announce the recent appointment of Lisa B. Weissmann, MD, as the hospital’s new Chief of Hematology/Oncology.  Dr. Weissmann previously served as Mount Auburn Hospital’s Acting Chief of Hematology/Oncology since 2011.

Dr. Weissmann attended Harvard University and received her MD from New York University.  She completed her postdoctoral education at Yale New Haven Hospital and an Oncology Fellowship at the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute. Dr. Weissmann joined the medical staff at Mount Auburn Hospital in 1999. Dr. Weissmann is board certified in Internal Medicine, and Oncology and currently serves as an Assistant Professor of Medicine at Harvard Medical School. Over her years in practice, Dr. Weissmann has developed a particular expertise in the treatment of breast cancer, serving on the Steering Committee of the Breast Cancer Team as well as on the Advisory Board of BreastCancer.org.

In the past 2½ years as Acting Chief of Hematology/Oncology, Weissmann has helped to develop a High Risk Genetics Clinic, implemented a computer chemotherapy ordering system, and has expanded the hospital’s Hematology/Oncology Center’s professional services. She is also a founding member of the Multidisciplinary Breast Cancer Team and oversees the weekly Tumor Board at Mount Auburn Hospital.
