Teele Square Restaurant Gets Facelift, Full Liquor License

Amelia's Kitchen has a new look and a new menu.

A longtime restaurant in Teele Square reopened this week with a new look, a new menu and a full liquor license.

West 7 Bistro, which for 18 years was known as Amelia's Kitchen, went under renovations in August and opened its doors again on Tuesday, according to Delio Susi, the owner.

During the renovation, when workers removed a dropped ceiling and took down drywall, Susi discovered his restaurant had vintage tin ceilings and walls and wainscoting. Those elements, along with exposed brick, have been incorporated into the new design.

The new menu is "mixed," Susi said. As with Amelia's, the menu has panini, but it now includes things like the "West 7 Burger" and steak tips, too. It has classic pasta dishes and a selection of vegetarian dishes. Most options are based on classic home-style Italian cooking.

The name, West 7 Bistro, pays homage to West Somerville's Ward 7, home to Teele Square.

Asked why he decided to revamp the restaurant, Susi said, "It was time."

West 7 Bistro is at 1137 Broadway, and its phone number is (617) 776-2800.
