Somerville Restaurants Dominate Zagat's Year-End Coverage

The restaurant review website was in love with Somerville in 2013.

If you need more proof that Somerville is becoming Boston's hottest restaurant destination, check out some of Zagat's year-end roundups.

The restaurant review website took at look at restaurant openings around the country and compiled a list of "The 25 Most Important Restaurants of 2013," including restaurants in Seattle, Philiadelphia, Los Angeles, Dallas, Nashville, Tenn., San Francisco, New Orleans, Washington D.C., Houston, Miami, Denver, Atlanta, Las Vegas, Chicago, New York, Austin, Texas and Boston.

Well, not Boston. Somerville.

The two Boston restaurants included on the list were in Union Square:


Zagat also looked at the "10 Best Things We Ate This Year," focusing on dishes served at Boston-area restaurants.

Somerville dominated the list with these dishes:


Additionally, Zagat named the Taza Chocolate crémeux at Harvest, in Cambridge. Since Taza is from Somerville, we'll claim that, too.

Perhaps further testament to Somerville's awesomeness, Zagat also included the lamb belly at Puritan & Company, or, as Zagat put it, "Somerville's Puritan." So what if Puritan is in Cambridge. From Zagat's perspective it's good enough to be in Somerville.
