Somerville LEGOLAND Reveals Boston's Favorite Landmark

The landmark, which won a Facebook competition, will be rebuilt in Somerville as part of LEGO MINILAND. Hint: The winner is part of Boston's heritage as an intellectual city.

The Boston Public Library in Copley Square is Boston's favorite landmark.

At least that's according to the people who voted in LEGOLAND Discovery Center's Facebook competition. As a result, LEGOLAND will rebuild the library in Somerville—out of LEGOS, of course—as part of Boston MINILAND.

LEGOLAND Discovery Center made the announcement Monday on its Facebook page.

A LEGOLAND press release says the library "will be immortalized in LEGO bricks alongside other Boston landmarks when the attraction opens in May at Assembly Row in Somerville."

The public voted on LEGOLAND Discovery Center's Facebook page from Nov. 11 to Dec. 13. Other contenders were the Custom House, Faneuil Hall, Fenway Park, Old South Meeting House, Old State House, Somerville's Prospect Hill Monument, Prudential Tower, TD Garden and Trinity Church, according to the press release.

The Boston Public Library is the first publicly supported free municipal library in the world.
