Diesel Cafe in Somerville’s Davis Square was recently named one of America’s best coffee shops.
The cafe, at 257 Elm St., won a 2014 Krups Best Brew Award, according to Boston.com.
The coffee company has been giving out awards for four years. Winners are determined by a vote on its Facebook page.
Here’s what Krups had to say about Diesel Cafe:
“Owned by former employees of Toscanini's Ice Cream; presumably, they drank a lot of joe and did a lot of thinking at their old job, because the high-ceilinged, chrome-edged space became an instant destination for Somerville's young and cool. Java is the obvious draw, which comes in the form of lattes, cappuccinos and cafe au lait, but there's also a grab bag of creative wraps, sandwiches and pastries (257 Elm Street)”
The owners of Diesel Cafe are opening a new cafe, Forge Baking Company, on Somerville Avenue. They also own Bloc 11 Cafe in Union Square.
