When the , which is proposing the 40-unit affordable housing development, made a presentation in March, it led to a wider debate about housing, class and change in Somerville (see articles below).

In the Boston.com post, Max Chalkin, a recent graduate, writes that the Somerville Community Corportation "makes a clear, convincing case for the need for affordable housing in Somerville."

Chalkin questions arguments made by Union Square Rising, a group formed by neighbors who oppose the project and writes, "if … USR is against affordable housing no matter what, they should simply admit they don’t want poor people in the neighborhood. At least then, even if the fight intensifies, it will be clear to the public what this debate is really about."
