Rude People Wasting My Time

Some people seem to have no respect for other people’s time. In a recent span of just a few hours, I experienced these rude people:

• I went to a doctor’s appointment and it took about 10 minutes for the desk clerk to check me in on her computer. I don’t know what she was doing as she typed continuously behind the screen. Perhaps she was playing solitaire, or that new Curt Shilling game.
• Then I waited another hour and 45 minutes before my name was called to see the doctor.
• After my appointment, I went to the pharmacy to fill a prescription and received the same treatment. (I think he was playing the same online game that the clerk at my doctor’s office was playing.) Then the pharmacist told me to come back in about 15 to 20 minutes. I was wondering why. Was he going to sample the drugs before he gave them to me?
• Finally, at the check-out counter a lady bought her stuff, waited for the amount to be totaled, and then—and only then—did she start digging through her purse for the money. Well, at least she didn’t begin ordering scratch tickets.

After all of this, is it any wonder that the prescription that I had filled was for my blood pressure?
