Sharon Shannon Band
Sharon Shannon, from Ireland, performs the fiddle and accordian and has played with Bono, Sinead O’Connor, The Chieftains, Willie Nelson and other big names. She's at the Somerville Theatre Friday at 8 p.m.

UFO Wrestling
Happening at The Center for Arts at the Armory Friday, the listing says, "UFO Wrestling brings a card of local and regional wrestlers to the Armory! Featuring a guest appearance by WWE Hall of Famer Tony Atlas" There will be a meet-and-greet with Mr. Atlas from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Wrestling begins at 7:30 p.m.

Saturday Family and Children's Concert Series: Sun Goddess
The Tufts Jazz Orchestra performs music by Gershwin, Bernstein, and Earth, Wind & Fire, including an Afro-Cuban jazz treatment of “Battle Hymn of the Republic.” Traveling Treasure Trunk, a children's entertainment group, will also perform. It's Saturday at 1 p.m. at Granoff Music Center at Tufts University.

Second Line Social Aid and Pleasure Society Brass will perform as the Metropolitan Boston Housing Partnership 2013 Marathon Team serves pancakes and coffee to support the organization. It's Saturday at 11 a.m. at First Church of Somerville UCC.

All things Iceland: 2nd Annual “Reykjavik Calling” Concert Rocks Boston and More
It's not happening in Somerville, but you might be interested in this concert, which celebrates music emerging from Boston and Reykjavik. The Adam Ezra Group, Kris Delmhorst, Sóley Stefánsdóttir and Ásgeir Trausti will perform. It takes place at Paradise Rock Club, 967 Commonwealth Ave., in Boston Saturday at 8 p.m. It's all part of an Icelandic weekend, including and Icelandic menu at Legal Sea Foods and an event called Fabulous Iceland: From Sagas to Novels-Portraits of Contemporary Icelandic Authors, also happening on Saturday and Sunday. Also on Sunday, there's a free Icelandic film festival, also in Boston.

Patriots Lineman Ryan Wendell Reads to Kids
Wendell will read to around 850 elementary school kids from Somerville and Medford at Tufts University's Gantcher Center, 161 College Ave. The reading is part of the "Read by the River" event, which takes place from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. Sunday. 

Maple Boil Down Festival
Groundwork Somerville's Maple Syrup Project conducts its annual boil down festival on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. You can learn how to boil maple sap down to pure gold, a.k.a. syrup. There will also be syrup tastings and demonstrations. It's at at 22 Vinyl Ave.

Journalist and Author Thomas R. Bransten Reads from his New Book "A Slight Case of Guilt"
Journalist and author Thomas R. Bransten's novel, “A Slight Case of Guilt," which takes place in Burgundy's wine country, is loosely based on a kidnapping that took place during his stint as a journalist in France. He'll be at The Book Shop in Ball Square Sunday at 1 p.m.
